Easy background removal

Needed to remove backgrounds from a bunch of images. Clipping Magic did the job quickly. Uploaded, auto-clip AI worked, downloaded. Simple and fast. Got what I paid for.

Good for quick edits

I used Clipping Magic for some product photos for my small online store. The AI background removal worked pretty well for most of the simpler items. I liked the smart clip editor; it made cleaning up edges much faster than doing it manually. My main gripe was with very intricate items, like jewelry with fine chains; it sometimes struggled there, requiring a lot of manual touch-up. Overall, the value for the annual plan was decent, but it's not a perfect one-click solution for everything.

Got a lot done

I had a ton of photos to clear up for my new site, mostly just wanted white backgrounds. Tried Clipping Magic and it was super easy. Just threw my pics in, clicked a few things, and boom, they were ready. The hair selection tool actually worked better than I thought it would on some tricky ones. Saved me a bunch of time.

Solid tool for e-commerce

I've been using Clipping Magic for about six months now, mainly for my e-commerce site. The bulk image processing feature is a lifesaver. I can upload a folder full of product shots, and it handles the background removal pretty efficiently. The web-based image editor is intuitive enough for basic color correction and cropping, which means I don't always need to jump into Photoshop. I especially appreciate the transparent background tool; it's very consistent. There was one time I had an issue with an image not processing correctly, and their customer service got back to me within a day with a solution. For the price of the annual plan, it's definitely a time-saver compared to manual editing, especially when you have a high volume of images.

Thinking of switching from Remove.bg to Clipping Magic, mostly for product photos. Anyone made this move and have thoughts on hair selection or fine details?

R RahulK 2 months ago ✓ Best Answer
I switched about 6 months ago for my small e-commerce store. Clipping Magic's hair selection is definitely better, especially for tricky products with fur or fine strands. Remove.bg was quicker for simple stuff, but CM saved me so much manual cleanup time.

Pricing is a bit different structure, but for the quality, I found CM worth it.

That's good to hear, the hair detail is what's holding me back with Remove.bg.

Did you notice any difference in pricing for similar volumes?

C coolboy88 2 months ago
Honestly, for basic product cutouts on a white background, Remove.bg is faster. If you're doing anything with reflections or shadows, or need super clean edges for complex items, CM is better but takes a bit more interaction sometimes. Depends on your volume and complexity.

Good point, most of mine are straightforward but some have tricky bits.

I tried Clipping Magic's free trial specifically for some product shots with complex edges and it handled them really well. The scalpel tool is super precise if you need to fine-tune something the AI misses. Haven't fully switched yet, but it's on my radar.

It gave me a good idea, enough to process a few tricky images. They don't give a ton of credits, but enough to test the accuracy.

Is the free trial enough to get a feel for it, or is it too limited?

Just noticed my annual plan for Clipping Magic is up for renewal soon. Anyone know if there's a renewal discount or should I just let it lapse and resubscribe?

S Sneha22 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Mine renewed automatically last month and I didn't see any special renewal discount applied. The price was the same as what I signed up for initially. Might be worth checking your account or contacting support directly if you're hoping for one.

Hmm, thought they might have something to keep existing customers. Thanks for the info.

I let mine lapse once and then resubscribed a few weeks later. The price was the same. Didn't gain anything, didn't lose anything either, except a bit of hassle. Probably just easier to renew if you're happy with the service.

Good to know. Saves me the trouble of trying to game the system then.

I actually contacted them about this a while back. They told me they don't typically offer a 'renewal discount' per se, but if you're on an older plan, the current annual pricing might be different. Or sometimes they have volume pricing if you increase your credits. No specific code though.

A AmitM 1 month ago
So basically no special incentive to stay unless I need more credits then.

Yeah, that was my takeaway. Worth a quick email to them just in case your situation is different though.

My images are pretty big, like high-res product photos. Is there a limit to the image size I can upload to Clipping Magic?

N Nina E. 2 months ago
They handle pretty big files, I upload my DSLR shots all the time without issues. Never hit a hard limit myself.

J Josh 2 months ago
I think they say there's a size limit but it's pretty generous. More about resolution than file size, I think. Your typical product photos should be fine.

Is there really a free way to try this out before buying a subscription? Like I just wanna see if it works for my weird product shots without committing to a whole month.

A Alex 2 months ago
Yeah, they totally have a free trial. You can test it out to see how it handles your images before you pay anything.

i think it gives you a few credits to mess around with, but you can't download the full resolution ones without paying. good for testing tho.

What's the deal with their credits? Like if I buy a pack, do they just disappear after a month or something? Don't wanna waste them if I don't use 'em right away.

R Raj Foster 2 months ago
Nah, credits don't expire. You buy them, you keep them until you use 'em. Super helpful for when you have inconsistent needs.

A Amber Bennett 2 months ago
Yeah, I had some credits for months before I needed to do a big batch of photos again. They were still there, no problem.

Thinking of getting Clipping Magic for my online store. How does it compare to something like Remove.bg or PhotoRoom? Anyone used both and have a preference?

K Kevin H. 2 months ago
I've used both Clipping Magic and Remove.bg. Clipping Magic feels a bit more precise, especially with tricky edges. Remove.bg is super quick, but sometimes misses details for me.

T Todd 2 months ago
PhotoRoom is good for mobile, but for bulk stuff on a desktop, Clipping Magic is way better IMO. The editor gives you more control too.

do these guys ever have promo codes? or is it just the annual discount type of thing? trying to figure out the best time to buy.

R Renee 2 months ago
Mostly annual plan discounts, saving like 10-20% that way. I've seen them do Black Friday sales too, so maybe hold out if you can.

B Beth 2 months ago
Yeah, I think they have a coupon field at checkout, but I've only ever seen it used for like, specific marketing campaigns. Not really for general public use often.
